Landscaper and Crew Leader (May-November)
Amano Gardens is looking for a highly motivated landscaper to join our team as a crew leader.
Amano Gardens is part of Amano Group, a Canadian not-for-profit corporation. Amano Gardens offers general landscaping services with a focus on edible garden designs and maintenance. We do this through an environmentally sustainable business model that combines practicality with aesthetics. All our work is done by hand: no power tools, no gas emissions, no noise. We help clients grow their own edibles while maintaining their green spaces. We also offer regular gardening and landscaping services such as preparing garden beds, planting, mulching, and weeding, among others.
We offer a welcoming, inclusive workplace and a commitment to listening to everyone’s ideas and concerns and try our best to make things work for everyone. If you are looking at landscaping as a career path, we will help you find training resources. Amano has been nominated for the Employment Ontario’ Ottawa Employer Network Awards in 2016 for investing in our workforce, and again in 2017 for our commitment to employment equity. We are now on our third season since we started operations. This means we are still going through some growing pains while we adapt to higher demands and a growing team.
What we offer:
Requirements:
Landscaping and horticultural formal training is an asset.
As part of this position you are required to complete the Supervisor Workplace Safety Awareness in 5 Steps training provided by the Ministry of Labour (but that will be done during work hours).
This is a physically demanding position that requires bending, crouching, kneeling, handling heavy loads, and repetitive tasks for extended time periods.
